All the member of European Parliament, I regret I cannot be with you in Brussels today. Mzia Amaglobeli and I share the same lawyer – who represent us both, in our struggle for justice. The European Parliament must pay attention to what is happening in Georgia. Students are risking everything for democratic values, journalist continue shining light of the truth. Mzia Amaglobeli has become the symbol of this brave opposition of end of independent journalism in Georgia. International solidarity sustained me through the darkest times. It reminded me – we are not alone. Mzia needs the same solidarity now. She’s been in prison since January, that’s nine months. Her colleges keep her media organization alive under tremendous pressure, but they can’t do this alone. This is a critical moment for Mzia and for Georgia. More than 310 days of daily protests the values Europe claims uphold being tested in Tbilisi. Silence – sense of dangerous message. Mzia deserves your solidarity. Georgia deserves your solidarity. Time to act is now.
