I have a feeling that not tomorrow, but tonight, they’ll break into my home. But I have one problem — my brother, who suffered a stroke, is bedridden. I would rather be arrested in the street, if they’ve decided to detain me, so that my brother’s condition doesn’t get worse because of it. That’s the only thing I’m afraid of. I’m not afraid of being arrested — I’ve been detained under every government for taking part in protests, and I’ve even been a political prisoner. I don’t hide and I don’t disguise myself. The only thing I fear is that they’ll burst into my home and cause my brother’s health to deteriorate — or worse, that this night might end fatally.

I’ve always expressed my protest peacefully, and I’m doing so again today. It is — and always has been — my constitutional right. I will continue to exercise it. This regime must end. This anti-state, anti-national government must step down, and new parliamentary elections must be held. A truly democratically elected government must come to power. I live in this house, on this street, on this floor — the light in my brother’s room is still on.
