Lika Lortkipanidze Sentenced to 12 Days of Administrative Detention

Lika Lortkipanidze has been sentenced to 12 days of administrative detention by the court. The Ministry of Internal Affairs accused her of insulting politician Mariam Lashkhi. The case was heard by Judge Davit Tetrauli.

According to her lawyer, Mikheil Tataradze, who spoke to Publika, Lortkipanidze did not commit any offense.

Ruling party (Georgian Dream) MP Mariam Lashkhi filed a complaint against three female activists following an incident on May 17. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is seeking administrative detention for two of them and a fine for the third.

The incident took place in a café where Lashkhi was present with companions, including children. Activists entered the venue chanting: “Freedom to the regime’s prisoners, no to the Russian regime, no to Russia’s servants… down with the servants of Russia.”

According to a February amendment to the Administrative Offenses Code, insulting a public or political official is now punishable by a fine of 1,500 to 4,000 GEL or up to 45 days of administrative detention.

Magda Mamukashvili has been fined 4,000 GEL based on a complaint filed by Mariam Lashkhi, a member of what is being referred to as an illegitimate parliament.
In the same case, Lika Lortkipanidze was sentenced to 12 days of administrative detention.

Tbilisi City Court has fined journalist and TV host Natia Gogsadze 5,000 GEL. The decision was made by Judge Lela Tsagareishvili.
Gogsadze is accused of blocking the road on February 2nd. According to the journalist, she was carrying out her professional duties at the time.
