In a letter written by 19-year-old student Maro Makashvili to her father on February 18, 1921, she describes the final days of the fight against the Red Army. Despite her parents’ objections, she joined the battle as a volunteer nurse. The following day, on February 19, she was killed by a grenade fragment.
